The effective primary school library is supported by effective and relevant policies and plans, which are closely related to the school policies and development plans.

The library should also reflect local and national priorities and should take account of recent and impending initiatives.

In order to help primary schools to respond to these changing priorities, the ERS has developed web-based templates and contextual information to assist schools in:
