Primary School
Library Project |
Alice System
The physical management of
resources in a primary school library is vital for continued success, and
the ERS has recommended
that schools use a computerised management system for this purpose.
Up until March 2005 17 primary schools in North Ayrshire bought the
Junior Alice Library Management system supplied by Softlink Europe, whilst
the others in the Primary School Library Project opted for he ERS database. In
March 2005 North Ayrshire Council bought these database schools and the special
schools new pcs and the
Junior Alice software. This has been a huge project to undertake and the
Percs have devised a timetable to ensure that all schools requiring the system
have and will receive adequate support from ERS staff in cataloguing resources
and appropriate staff training given to clerical/classroom assistants. As a
result of this staff training a number of 'help sheets' have been devised and
are available in pdf format below.
