Financial Education Workshops
|
As part of the Scottish Government's agenda for social inclusion, Closing the Gap, North Ayrshire Council has developed a Financial Inclusion Plan.
Our Trading Standards Service has a dedicated Financial Literacy Officer for Young People, enabling the provision of direct financial education to young people through schools, colleges and youth groups. Carol Ferries has worked in the financial services industry and is also a qualified teacher. Our services are free, and Trading Standards consider it essential to improve the financial capability of all young people, as it is a core skill that will allow them to be confident and smart consumers in the future. We have a particular target to deliver financial education to all S3 pupils in our secondary schools. Carol can provide this, together with advice on resources for other year groups. Workshops have been delivered to S3 pupils in the majority of North Ayrshire schools in the first 18 months of the project, and feedback from pupils has been very positive. If your school has not taken up this service as yet, or if you are looking to arrange further visits, please contact Carol who will be pleased to discuss this with you. |
