Thanks to St Mark's for their reviews of Stig of the Dump by Clive King. Read some of the below. - 19/06/2009
Brief outline of story: A young boy named Barney was staying over at his granny's house over Christmas. There was a chalk pit near by but he was forbidden to go there, but one day it was one of those days were he had nothing to do so he thought it would not harm him if he went into the chalk pit. When he went down the chalk pit to the dump he met a creature called Stig. Stig couldn't talk but he was able to communicate with Barney. He made stuff out of old newspaper and and umbrellas and ate cigarettes. Barney has a sister called Lou who likes leopard hunting.
Your favourite part: Chapter 5 The Snargets. I like this chapter because the Snargets give Stig some presents and it is really funny how he reacts to them.

Brief outline of story: A young boy named Barney was staying at his gran's house. He was forbidden to go to the chalk pit but he decided he would go anyway. He met a cave man who goes by the name of Stig. Stig and Barney go on adventures like fox hunting and making inventions. Until Barney's sister Lou finds out about Stig and is so desperate to meet him....
Your favourite part: Chapter 7 Part Manners. Barney and Lou were painting and there was a news paper underneath, Barney found an article about a circus named Bottom Mammoth's Circus. They absolutley wanted to go. They ask gran but she says NO. There was a strange woman named Mrs Fawkham-Greene who was hosting her neice's birthday party. It was a fancy dress party. Lou would like to go as a puma and as for Barney he wants to go as a caveman obviously after Stig! Gran doesn't have time to make a costume so, Barney goes to the chalk pit and trades Stig marbles for animal skins! They go to the party without telling their Gran! Barney and Lou find a short cut and well the both get scared. They eventually find their way and enter the house. They all dance. Lightning goes out and Mrs Fawkham-Greene goes out into her back garden to fix it. They were told to play a game and Lou decides to play find the leopard which is her. Barney looks out the window and sees that there was two leopards. Barney caught the tip of its tail wich causes it to jump into the stable they lock it up. But there were two cavemen this time Barney and the supposive Stig. Mrs Fawkham-Greene tells the children to come inside at once so they do as thier told and the man comes from the circus and claims his missing animal.
